Essential Items for Every Bridesmaid

In some of our recent posts, we’ve mentioned that as well as being a great honour, being a bridesmaid is also a significant challenge. As well as participating in the wedding ceremony, bridesmaids also provide invaluable emotional and practical support to the bride. In shouldering some of the burden in the weeks and months before the wedding, as well as on the day itself, bridesmaids perform an indispensable service to the bride. Above all, bridesmaids should strive to make sure that the bride’s wedding day is as joyful as it ought to be.

We’ve written already about some of the functions an exemplary bridesmaid should strive to fulfill. However, isn’t there a little more to it than that? Shouldn’t an exemplary bridesmaid know how to prepare, also? When the wedding day itself arrives, there’s no telling what sort of emergencies will arise, and which tools will be needed to resolve them. So, the well-prepared bridesmaid will be equipped with an assortment of essential items that will be useful in a variety of situations. Of course, the next question is, just what are these items? In this week’s blog post, we’d like to suggest some essentials that any bridesmaid should have to hand.

A Sewing Kit

If everything goes according to plan, you won’t be needing this. However, if something does go wrong, you certainly won’t want to be caught without it. Bridal and bridesmaid’s dresses are delicate garments, and sadly, they are easily damaged. Of course everyone will be taking the very best care of their outfit, but sometimes accidents do happen. So, it’s essential to have a sewing kit on hand so that any mishaps can be patched up swiftly. It doesn’t need to be a large, unwieldy affair. A compact kit with just the basics will be fine. It should contain safety pins, scissors, a needle, and thread.

A Few Things From the Pharmacy

We’re certain there won’t be any real injuries at your wedding, but there a couple of items from the chemist’s shop that you should have on hand all the same. It’s advisible to have some painkillers, to avoid having anyone’s day ruined by a headache. Some band-aids are also necessary, particularly in case anyone is finding their shoes uncomfortable. A pouch of tissues is also recommended.

A Small Beauty Kit

This will likely be the largest item in your collection, as there are quite a few essential beauty items you should bring. That said, it’s easy to lose sight of what’s really necessary, so when putting this one together do your best to limit it only to what’s needed. Tweezers, cotton pads, hair pins and ties, and a comb or brush should all certainly be included. With everything else, think carefully about whether or not you absolutely need it.

Water

This one perhaps seems obvious, but in fact it’s easily forgotten. Some bottled drinking water is absolutely essential. Dehydration quickly leads to stress, which is obviously something that should be avoided on such an important day. Make sure everyone stays hydrated for a cheerful, happy, and joyous wedding day.
